    Default I vote no.

Two seats are plenty and the marque remains awesome. All Corvette needs is an entry-level version priced around 40K and it will weather out the Depression ... I mean ...... ah ..... recession.

Won't be the first time Kranz has said lame things.

Reality is the manufacturer is Porsche and the brand is Panamerica. Note that Porsche did not name it's four-door 911, Boxer, Cayman or Cayenne

In our case, the manufacturer is Chevrolet and the brand is Corvette. It is true, Chevrolet ought to market a true four-door, performance sedan....well, actually, it already has one, but it's only sold as a police car in North America, but...I digress. Putting the Corvette name on a four-door would be a big f'ing mistake.

Kranz is correct that GM needs to do something about the Corvette aging customer base. As time goes on fewer and fewer old people are going to buy the car.

GM needs to market to a younger audience and to do that it needs to 1) lower the base price, 2) offer features younger folks want and c) market the car to that audience.

Corvette is not going to survive selling faux Z06es...ooops....(sorry 'bout that) Grand Sports automatics with magnaride to aging boomers trying to recall their bygone youth. Besides...a lot of those folks, no longer being able to get them selves into a Vette, are buying Chevy Traverses and such.

The C7 is going to be an opportunity for GM. Let's hope it makes good use of it.

Let's also hope the existing base can live with some of the realities of the mid-to-late-20-teens. CAFE is really going to affect the car's performance. Big engines, 427s or supercharged 6.2s, will be history. Stop-start, mild hybrid systems will eventually be apart of Corvette. Maybe we'll see a V6 as the base engine. The car will have to get lighter and perhaps even a little bit smaller.

Hib... you nailed it!!! that's it, there is little else.

But the thought I have is why would anyone suggest that young buyers would want/need a 4 door???
If anything they might like a 2 or 4 door small car with a "big" engine like a BMW 1M series or 3M series.
It also must have MANY custom as well as many standard parts available.

But at what price?? Hondas, toyotas, etc. are favorites since they are easily worked on, reliable, and most of all CHEAP. NOT because they have 4 doors.

The only reason they even think of a 4 door anything is that the car has 90% of the features they want and the doors are just there. I really cant see a young person say "I must get a 4 door".

Ironically a 4 door Vette would be better suited to someone 50+++. That is the demographic they are hoping to avoid. Even that would be bad since the Cadillac "V" would cover it handily.

Let's face it, the industry is too competitive and too EPA restricted to experiment with odd ideas.
Especially since they already have products in-house.

Default There goes Hib with his V6 again.

The sad part is that he's probably right.
