Hi there,
Its called the brake transmission shift interlock solenoid.
Some make more noise than others, but certainly normal.

Brake/drive shifter solenoid click.
Today I decided to do some brake work. This what I did and the result.
I removed all four calipers and cleaned and painted them red with that red ceramic paint, looks SWEET!
Removed the front rotors and used a liquid rust remover and then cleaned them up and painted them silver with 1000 degree header paint. Looks nice!
Followed all torque values, put it all back together, NEVER broke a brake line so I didn't need to bleed.
Then, when I got in the car and started it up, I have an automatic, I hear and feel a clicking in the drive shifter. I called the dealer and spoke to a mechanic and he told me what I expected. It's the drive/brake solenoid. He told me he has a C6 and he never noticed the sound till a friend recently commented on it and now he can't NOT hear it. But mine was quiet yesterday.
How in the world is this related? Or is it possible I never noticed this?
This guy is a nine-year dealer mechanic and he knows his stuff and he said it's normal.
Anyone's opinion?
Thanks.
