All Vettes since 96 are OBD2.

I get a "link error" when I try to connect

Your car has to be CAR-ON, ENGINE-OFF for the scanner to read the codes. You do that by holding down the bottom part of the starter switch until the guages activate.

Did you get a code reader that can clear codes?

What type of scanner are you using? Did you buy it new or used? If its used/old you may need to update the software. If its new and you are scanning your Vette in ACC or RUNNING mode than you have a problem with the scanner

Does your scan tester support the CAN protocol?
