My Corvette(s):

I still prowling and growling about the C6's.
Is there a switch for disabling the DRL's in the C6. If not, how can they be disabled?
Thanks for the info.

on your turn signal arm, turn the knob (sleeve) toward you. that will turn drl's off. But keep in mind, that is only good for each time you do this. After shutdown of vehicle, it will come back on. also, that deactivates your automatic headlight feature. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info rdm1465. I guess that I should have stated "permanently disable" the drl's.
The sales donkey at the dealership told me about the sleeve on the signal arm which I activated then I noticed that they were on after the vehicle was restarted.
Thanks

My Corvette(s): Nope, but someday. |
HI there,
There is no way to permanently disable the DRLs, without creating BCM codes and further issues.

I wish we had more choices as far as disabling the DRL's or have more control from having headlights come on. I don't care for this type of headlight switch .

Why would you want to disable them? They are a real safety feauture and that has been documented, especially in Canada where they have been mandatory for a number of years. Some U.S. insurance companies such as USAA give you a safety discount if your car is equipped with these lamps.

I just want to have more control over the whole lighting system and make the turn signal/headlight switch more simple. I think people have problems seeing us C-6 so I prefer to have them on I just hate though that the more you use them or they go on or off like headlights they will burn out faster = trip to dealership.

In response to Donsar. BYW, nice looking '06 you've got. The Canadians may need them for their lack of daylight. I don't like them and would like to permanently disable them as automatic. I'll turn them on when I want to, thank you. If I see some donkey pulling out in front of me I prefer to flash him with my headlights.
Also, it draws less attention if you are flying low. <BG>
Best Regards,
(still shopping)

I wonder if that donkey wouldn't have pulled out in front of you if you had the lights on while you were flying low?
While flying low will you have time to flash your light before the collision?
Personally I will keep the lights as many times as I've been unseen by other drivers. Gets scary out there when you're riding beside 42 tires that are bigger than you. Then there is the cell phone crowd that has everything but driving on their mind.

Best Regards,
(still shopping) | I disabled them on my C5 but since there is no way on the C6 I just turn them off as part of the startup, it soon becomes habbit.

Hey Fast Mover,
Thanks for the response. I guess that is what I'll have to do.
Is the color on your c6 different than what is offered in 06 and 07?
I have a Montery Red with black top and interior on order. I too am going to pass on the dealer cleaning. They will only check the vitals (fluids) and gas it up. I will then take it home and detail it with tlc. <BG> I can't wait.
Regards,
Jim

Jim | Mag Red was discontinued in 2005 and replaced with Montery Red
I have not seen the Montery Red and Mag Red side by side but I think the
Mag Red is not as dark and has more metal flake in the paint, especially in the sun. In any case the Montery Red BK/BK is a great combo Good luck and enjoy

If there was a way to permanently disable them I would. In the C5 all you had to do was pull a fuse.
