Default Louvers on Tail Lamps: Yes or No / Black or Chromed?

    Ok
    Black on Black Vette -
(Putting Chrome lettering in the rear_)
Have the 4inch Borla quad tips chorme.
20inch and 19 inch Chrome HRE Rims.

Lloyds mats and cargo mat en route(or soon to be ordered) in black with silver emblem.

So #1, would you put louvers on the tail lights?

    if yes, Black or Chromed?

(no, calipers are not painted and stock rotors are still on - will go zinc'd slotted/drilled rotors in a few months and probably go with a silver powdercoat on the calipers)

Or what should I do to the Calipers????

Thanks guys - value the opinions

If I were to put louvers on the rear lights,, I would make them black or add more chrome to the outside....around licence plate etc. then I would make them chrome...

Why don't you run a poll to see where we stand???

Its all a matter of what YOU like, but myself I think that too much black can remove some of the cool color contrasts that you see. I like the look of red tail lights on black. It compliments and contrasts beautifully. I might be more inclined to black it out on a red or orange car. If I was working color, I think you can't lose with chrome. Good luck and enjoy the mods!

sure I will go economy on this mod - acrylic

I'd love the cut aluminum ones but can't justify hundreds of bucks on it right now.

I do have the LED bulbs in the tail lights too - (i am told they do not shine well thru blacked out lenses)

here is another shot of my naked rear end:

I prefer black for the C6. However, I agree with lifeguard and may get blue instead because I like the contrast with the lower black section above the exhaust tips. On the black car this area is just more black with no contrast. I was thinking about some kind of chrome detail strip to separate the lower black area on the rear from the black body. Louvers? It's a matter of taste. What I like about black is that it is a totally uncluttered look-so I'd keep it simple and not add them. Perhaps a custom fabricated chromed replacement for the spoiler lip?

Then there would always be a 4 foot wing sitting about 2 feel above the rear deck.

So Rain....are you replacing the stock exhaust with Borla mufflers or just tips? The Borla I looked at on their website for the C6 has a crosswise design like the C5. Personally I think the straight back design of Corsa is far superior.

Have fun, your car is going to be a real nice looking machine whatever you do. I still think that the C6 was made to be black.

I guess you posted this in the C6 section because we have much better taste than the C5 owners?

I prefer red lettering on the rear of a black car as well as red calipers. Thats my .02

I already have the RK Sport high rise hood, HRE rims and low profile tires, and the quad tip Borlas installed. (and the car is lowered on stock bolts)

So Im really just putting some finishing touches to the exterior.

definately red letter inserts. I have the louvers on my 88 and they're painted to match the car. Too much Chrome and we'll be looking for spinners soon...

    bubbles AND spinners HAHAHA

alas, the battery died Sunday about the time I got news that my grandfather had just passed away.
THEN, while traveling up for the funeral, a rail road crossing in poor condition (on a major 4 lane highway) bent up two of my HRE wheels.. ugh!
its just "stuff" and only money, right?

Thanks Joe - doing fine on this end.
Have another 4 hours of driving to get her home. Staying off the twisty roads and trying to watch the road surface as carefully as possible.
Considering putting the Y2k wheels back on for daily driving and only using the HREs for shows and parades.. just too expensive to drive the damned things when you can't control the road surface.
    Pics later today
