Default That perverbial question???

I'm looking to put new exhaust on 99 coupe and I was leaning towards the B&B Bullet kit. I've read almost ever fourm on exhaust and only found one comment onn this system. I'm looking for a throaty sound at idle and holy balls loud at WOT. Any input would be a great help.

Sound is such a personal preference...If you haven't heard the various exhausts? I suggest going to the next corvette show or event and asking the guys to start up the car and rev the motor. I am sure they will be proud to do so...I think the ones your discussing are great. Its a very popular choice.

If I were buying an aftermarket exhaust? I'd buy preowned..

I'd just search the various forums "for sale" sections...

THere's no moving parts so what the hell..

Half the guys selling are just selling cause they are trading their C5's in for C6's...

Good luck...(make sure the guy you buy from has a nice long history on the forum you are viewing)

Thats what I would do..

JB

Oh man,

This topic is right up there with:
  • what oil filter
  • which wax
  • what color
But seriously JB, most of the big name systems get the job done. You should locate some Vettes in your area with the different systems on them and listen to them. Often the local retailers or their employees have systems on their own cars. Good luck and have a great Holiday.

I'm not putting an aftermarket exhaust on but rather trying to help with suggestions.. I have a 10 year old kid whose sensitive to sound and as it is...he often times rides in the passenger seat with his fingers in his ears..

I can't go louder but if I could? I would go with the GHL system I hear its great and has no resonance...

I had corsa indys on my last ride and they were great too but would suggest an x pipe to smooth the idle out.

With headers and a cam...utilizing the Z06 titaniums I'm about as loud as I want to be...(with a autistic child as my passenger)

If it were just me driving? I'd go like I said with the GHL's!

Its just a personal preference from reading the forums and visiting the owners of cars with them though.

All the systems have their special sound..

pick the one you like...

As mentioned ...its like color preference!

The performance increase over a titanium Z06 exhaust is minimal....so I won't bother...but for a stock C5 ? I believe you'll see 5 or so hp in addition to making beautiful music!

Happy holidays!

JB

4 of the C5 Corvettes I've been running with over here in the Ft. Wayne area have them - They Sound Awesome !!!

They would be a bit overpowering for me on long road trips . . .

Later . . . . . .

Are the B&B pipes significantly louder than the Borla Stingers?

Hi jldecke -

here is what I did to my 99 coupe.

http://www.iammoon.com/vids/billy_bob_exhaust.wmv

**note** Billy Bob is just a JOKE people - it is not associated with Billy BOAT - but it is a billy "bobbed" setup - get it? Ah nevermind.....

I cut the mufflers off of a stock c5 catback and welded on straight pipes and tips - total cost around $150.

best regards -

JB, thanks for the advice. I think I will watch the fourms and see if anyone has a system like this for sale.

Remo, I know this question was up there with the oil, wax, and color debates but I just couldn't help myself.

6 Shooter, Have you ridden in any of these cars and if so what's the drone like on the inside.

Thank you everyone and have a merry christmas...
