Default Dash lights not working with headlights on

Driving to work this am. Lights on, dash lights normal. I notice the dash lights flicker on/off a few times, stay on about 5 min, then flickered off and now do not work when the light switch for the headlights or parking lights is turned on. All the lights controlled by this dash are off including, dash lights, radio light, HVAC light, DIC, lighted window/lock switches on the doors. HUD works fine. All the components like the headlights, foglights, HVAC, and radio themselves work fine, just not the lights on the dash. Now when the headlights/parking lights are off on the turn signal stalk, and I turn the car on or off, all the dash lights do come on normally, they just turn off whenever I use the light switch on the turn signal. By the way, the intensity control on the dash is set at full gain so its not that. No CLB installed. I do have a pillar pod with boost and fuel pressure. When I turn the headlights on now, but not the parking lights, the fuel pressure will bounce up to max above 100 for <1sec a few times, then return immediately to 62 which is where it normally runs. Something electrical here.

My guess: a short in the light switch on the column? BCM? Passenger door module? I doubt the ignition switch. I searched and found some others with these symptoms but no comment about causes or remedy. Any thoughts??

c4c5specialist any ideas or anyone else?? Thanks!

    Hi there,
I would suggest that the connector at the back of the DIC is having connection problems.
I would have the connections checked.

ZZ-Rider- I had this same problem on my 2003, and my lights would actually flicker when ever you braked (dim and then brighten, along with the dash lights occassionally). I looked under the hood and found that the power source coming to the fuse box was loose. The bolt securing the two lines was actually loose. I have to occassionally retighten this because it continues to become loose. When tightened I have no problems until it loosens again. Hope this helps-

You might try and put a dab of clear fingernail polish on the bolt/screw head. Let it dry and it should stay tight.

I checked the connection, it is tight. Any other thoughts? I think it may be a relay. When this first started it happened momentarily then the lights came on.

Check and Clean all Grounds! Especially the gang grounds by the hood henge's, you may be experiencing a ground feed back issue!!
