Default Question about Racing my Vette

I have an opportunity to take my vette to Virginia International Raceway. For a small fee I can take my car on the track with others who want to try their hand and vehical on a race track. Have any of you tried this and if so do you have any advice? Thanks

    Hey Dale,

What part of VA are you in? Yes, I have taken my vette to several race tracks. We did pay fees to test the vette on the oval track to find out the top speed. But I really did not race my vette ... just trying for lap times. They did cut our time short though when we hit top speed of 227 mph. Track officials informed us that we needed safety equipments installed on the car for us to run on the track again. But wow ... what a rush!!! If you have the chance to do so ... try it, at least once, a real blast and experience you'll never forget.

Are you going to race yours or just testing? I have a modified 2001 MY but have not raced mine at all, on the tracks or street ... not really interested and not worth it to me. Just want the HP available anytime I may need it when cruising around ... I live around the southern part of MD.

I live in Harrisonburg, on the west side of the state. The track that I'm going to is in Danville just above the North Carolina boarder. The track is a 3.2 mile road course. Lots of twist and turns. I believe the straights are long enough to reach at least 150 mph. I gues we'll see.

In Germany and Italy just about all of the tracks will let you take your car out for a spin. Just one thing to keep in mind though, if your insurance company finds out you are taking it on a race track they will likely NOT pay any claims if you wreck your car of someone else hits you.
