Default carpet cleaning tips???

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good carpet cleaner or shampoo?? Something that will make the carpets look fresh without a worn look (like they have been scrubbed to death).

I've had the most success with OXY-CLEAN. It's not specifically for carpets, but it seems to work without scrubbing. I saturate the stain, let it set for about 10 minutes, then vacuum with a wet-vac (to extract the liquid).

If there is a Kirby vacuum dealer near you, I've found the Kirby shampoo worked wonders on both the 82's I had. It also works well on spots or spills in the home.

We use OXY-CLEAN also for all our carpets. The stuff is amazing. I dumped a glass of red wine on our white Berber carpet and just like they advertise, I poured the OXY-CLEAN on it and the wine literally dissapeared as I was pouring. We have used it on the auto carpets and they come out like new. Great stuff!!

my mom has a bucket of that oxy clean stuff so I took a spray bottle, put about 1/8 of a cup into the bottle (like it says on the side of the tub) and tested it out. Pretty damn good. I had hoped it would get some really old stains out but it only made them less visiable (still there but not as strong). As for the coffee my mom must have spilled (could have been coke too) it took that right out, along with the greese from the seat rail things.

looks like oxy will stay in my car cleaning bin.

I have a Hoover carpet cleaner/vac, that I use in my home for all the rooms , and it will work great in the Vette,.
My daughter spilled coffee on her carpet in her car, and it now looks like new.

Ya know, I got one o' them there Oreck XL vacuum cleaners a while back, and the order include a dry cleaning system. I finally got around to using the stuff when I recently changed apartments and had to clean someone else's leftover spots in the carpet.

I'm now a firm believer of whatever it is that the Oreck people sent: ya just spray this liquid that's in the kit, brush it in with a supplied brush to loosen the dirt, and wait around fifteen minutes for it to clean and dry. Then ya vacuum as usual.

I used it on a couple of spots and lo and behold, the spots were gone - and stayed gone! That's a problem with most cleaners - the spots return if the carpet is soiled bad enough.

Oh, by the way, if the carpet is showing signs of age in that it's not "fresh" enough, there's no cleaner that's going to help you there. If they're not too threadbare, you may be able to dye them to make them fresh looking again.

my mom got this bottle of stuff from some carpet guy. IDK what it is but GDi it works amazing. Too bad we only got 1 bottle of it, a few gallons would have been nice.

Oxy Clean is the only way to go. Pictures tell the story.

I have a Bissell Little Green Machine that works great on floor mats and interior carpet. It's basically a miniature version of a home carpet cleaning machine that you can carry around and get into small places with. It has a couple attachments, heat and vacuum.

If you can get the stains out, the next key is getting the carpet or fabric dry. The Little Green sprays on the cleaner and "sucks" it all up into another canister.

I recently cleaned the mats for all of my cars and was very happy with the results. They don't look faded or stressed from the process.

I was able to get a deal on this one. No charge from a sales rep for the company. Generous guy, eh?

I think you can get them at Home Depot or Lowe's for under $100. Might even try Wal-Mart or Target.
