My Corvette(s):
1975 Convertible/steel blue 2000 lt. pewter conv.
Default Need some quick advise

Hello to CAC members over here on the C5 page. I am a regular on the C3 page with my 75. The reason I am here is to ask for some advise on a 2001 Corvette that I have an opportunity to purchase. It sounds like the current owner has gotten himself in a situation and needs to sell a cherry with 1500 miles. The car is overseas right now and the owner is willing to split the shipping ($1500 each). The description of the vehicle includes every option with a lot of add ons. The price is $12,000 and I am being very cautious. Usually if something sounds too good to be true it usually is. He says that he has $20,000 "banked" with ebay to backup the deal. He says that he is going to put me in touch with the people at ebay so that I can confirm the information. First off, any common problems with the 2001 model that I should look for and second any suggestions to prevent getting ripped off. I plan on bringing the car back to the USA and sell it for a profit. What can I expect to get for a cherry, loaded 2001?
Thanks in advance for the help, I need to move fast in case this is real.

Andy

Nobody sells a 1500 mile 2001 corvette for 12 grand just to split the shipping of 3 grand..

Sounds like BULL to me..

I'd run from this deal...as you said..if it sounds too good to be true it usually is and I'd tell him..he pay to bring the car in and you'll pay him 15 grand..

Still an amazing deal and totally never going to happen..

Don't care about any excuses..

Cars probably hot.

Just as fast as you can AWAY from this scam. I'll bet you it's not legit, there's been a few Corvette's recently that were "Too good to be true" and they were just that. Something stinks and I say they're going to rob you or someone else with a pen, NOT a GUN!!!

I've seen many versions of this scam in the past year. Do not even respond to this person anymore.

Thanks, I figured that this was a scam. There is just something about Corvettes that makes me crazy and even read these things twice.

Seen the same with ATV's. If they say to Wire the payment then you know it's a scam. I play games with these people by saying that I'm interested in buying 5 or more. Then see what they do
