Did the GS have a painted Targa top?
I was delighted to see what appeared to be a genuine 96 Corvette
Grandsport today on the way to work on I-95. Had NY tags and was
headed south.
However, I noticed in my rearview mirror that the targa top was also painted
admiral blue with the white stripe, to match the hood. Car did have black wheels and also the red cross-check on the driver's side of the hood.
Is that stock paint, or was the whole car a re-painted C4? I thought GM did not paint the targa, or give body color targa as an option with the GS.
They were painted that way . . .

Yes, the targa matches the rest of the car. It’s OEM correct for the white stripes to be on the targa.

What I have never figured out is if any of the GS's were sold with both tops... anyone know?

The answer is definitely no. Just for reference, all GS convertibles had white tops.Originally Posted by Vettelt193

By the way, if you want to see a BUNCH of GS's and ZR-1's, sign up for the C4 Gathering at the National Corvette Museum in May.Originally Posted by sothpaw

Just out of curiosity, could you order a vert and get the hard top?Originally Posted by GS583
No, that was also not available. I have seen one that was painted correctly and it was quite good looking. I've often thought that would be one option that should have been on the order blank.Originally Posted by Jeffvette
