Changing Light Bulbs of Instrument Cluster
I have been unable to reset my "Engine Oil Life Monitor" after several attempts and I have finally concluded that the bulb of the "Change Oil" warning light is gone... As you all know this warning light is located in the lower left corner of the Instrument Cluster.
My question is how easy or difficult is it to change this bulb? Do I have to remove the entire dash to access the bulb or is there a simple trick to reach this gizmo?
Any advice, comments???

I am sorry, SSTibet, but I gotta ask, having followed this discussion for a while now. Why? Of all the functions, why worry about this light? I would think you would know when to change your oil. and different oil types and conditions dictate different change rates anyhow. Am I missing something?

[B]I am just a new guy here...so bare with me OK???This is a trick that I have used to get those pesky bulbs out... Using a strong shop vaccuum and a straw that is just larger than the bulb,, I was able to suck the raskels out...Put a nylon sock over the exit end of the straw if you want to save the bulb...

You will need to pull the cluster.
NC2Stay, why change the bulb??? Well well well... I want my car to be perfect, that's why buddy... I know, as long as I know the oil change miles (kilometers in our case) the car will be more than okay. But well, it is a hobby for me to make the car immaculate... I know it never gets that way and will never be.
But imagine this; when I first bought the car I cleaned the engine compartment with tooth brushes, tooth picks, scotch bright from the kitchen, ear cleaners, etc etc etc. I even dropped a fork into the engine compartment while trying to clean a part that I could not reach.... This is how stupid I was about this car !!! I am now getting back to "normal".
Oh really??? I thought I should remove the transmissionOriginally Posted by Ken Anderson

Well, OK, then! I can certainly understand you - I just can't figure how I would ever get the time to do something like that myself. Thanks for replying!

Dear Bob, I really do not perform any repairs to the car myself unless it is something extremely simple stuff. I however clean the car including the engine bay quite frequently. It is like fishing, you know? I think of nothing but the car while doing stuff like that and get away from the distress of life. If I cannot do anything about a problem of my car, I at least read literature, get on the CAC and so on. That also relieves some of the stress. After all Corvette is a hobby for most owners like us, right??? It is not a car with much practical value to its owner, it has a lot of emotional rewards though. That's how I think of my Corvette dude.Originally Posted by NC2Stay

I was in Turkey many years ago. It was very depressing. In the interest of helping you maintain sanity, give me an address and and I will ship you my very dirty car which I don't need back til spring. Don't forget the windows.
