Default Ignition locK

I just got an 88 coupe and the Key is stuck in the ignition and will not return to the off position. How difficult is it to change the lock Cylinder and how do you match the VAT to the computor? Any help is apprecieated. Thanks

I had the same problem. It was the spring that releases the button on top of the shift lever. When it was in park it was not releasing all the way and would not let me lock the steering wheel and remove the key. I took the console off and lubricated it and it works fine now. I was beating my head against the wall thinking the problem was in the steering column. Hope this helps

Robert, Thanks i was just pricing lock cylinders ill give that a try first, Come to think of it i had a 78 Fire Bird that had a simular issue their was a sleve over the collum that rotated via a cable that if not adjusted correctley itprevented the ignition going into the lock position. However this problem wont even go to the off position. Did you have the same issue?

I could get it to what I thought was the off position. The cluster would go off but it still drained on the battery as I found out later.
