My Corvette(s):
98 Torch Red Vert, 93 Ruby Vert, 94 Black Coupe
Default Bose....Here we go again.

I've searched the various threads about the Bose Gold system in my 93 Ruby drop top and have not found anything quite like my problem. Faded all the way to the front everything sounds fine....just no rear sound. Since I have been driving it only on great days, I naturally had the top down and quality of the tunes wasn't a concern. The B&B Tri-Flos make their own music and make stereo quality secondary unless I feel in a particular loud mood. While cleaning her up yesterday afternoon, I noticed a slight "fluttering hum" in the system and decided to investigate. When properly balanced the "flutter" gets louder and the rear speaker volume is weak at best. I was able to determine the "fluttering" sound to be coming from the left rear speaker only. There is weak volume from the right side but nothing lke the volume in my coupe! Would a blown amplifier/s cause this problem or would it be the speaker? Where is the amplifier for the speaker? Am I missing something else?

I know the general consensus about the Bose system but a replacement sytem is not what I want with this car. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Search for the link called "Bose Woes Cured". The amps are about 3" x 4" and are screwed insised the speaker box. Very easy to remove. I found and installed the replacement amp on eachj of my rear speakers on my 91 and the problem was gone. Best of all, the stock system appearance was retained. Good Luck

Are the amps the same power rating on a convertible? I was led to believe they were higher on the vert that a coupe. maybe I 'm wrong. Anyway thanks for the great info ....I'll definitely look into this solution and let you know later.
