    Default HELP headlight adjustment??

1986 Corvette - headlight makes a noise like plastic gears hitting when I try to close. Did not do this before I took in for service. Therefore, I do not want to pay $80 to find out what is wrong.

I have taken the headlight out. It will open and close. The gears are not damaged in any way.

When I put it back in, it will open. But, when I try to close it, it will close but it makes a noise that sounds like a wood pecker. . . like something is hitting something.
Does this just need an adjustment? If so, how do I do it?

    Thanks

    Sunshine

Usually its the gears that go bad. This is a common problem for c4s.If it were me Id send them out to get rebuilt. There are numerous companies that do this.Welcome to the CAC.

I experienced the same noise on my 84'. I found that one of the two plastic gears in the headlight had two or three teeth worn down. I was able to replace just that gear. Hope this helps. I believe there's some good previous threads in this forum talking about replacing the gears in the headlight assemblies. Good luck.
