1984 - Z-51 suspension???

Hello,
I'm a newbie to owning corvettes. I just purchased a 1984 in great shape with only 77k miles. Is there an easy way to tell if it has the z-51 suspension package?

Open up the rear compartment doors in the floor. Look at the RPO codes...if you have the Z51 package it will say Z51

Different steering gear ratio, 2 turns lock-to-lock vs. 2 1/4 (or 2 1/2, I forget)

9.5" wide rear wheels, 8.5" front (vs. 8.5" front and rear)

I also remember seeing mention of an aluminum driveshaft, don't know how accurate that is though...never checked mine.

National Corvette Museum ($25) can make you a reprint for your car. I too have an 84 two tone bronze. They can laminate ($5) it for you as well.

My 84 Z-51 has the alloy drive shaft, plus it has a camber brace that looks factory. Anyone esle has this?

The easiest way is to check the rims. The OEM wheels in the rear are one inch wider than the fronts. One of only a few cars to have this feature until the ZR1. Chrysler was the first to have this feature in special Cudas and Challangers with the 340`s and tri power. If you do have a Z51 package the tires can never be rotated because of the difference in rim widths and because the tires are directional. However the 84`s had the best suspension package GM ever placed on a Vette. A truly rough rider however, and was softened up considerably in subsequent models due to customer complaints starting in 1985 and after.
