    Default THM 700r4 ID

    Hello,

Can anyone help my identificate a 700R4? I'd like to purchase a performace kit for it but I'm not sure about its year so i asked the local mechanics here to check the ID number of the tranny:

    1FTM1720

Can anyone decode this ID? Is it my original '89 Corvette tranny?

    Thanks a lot,

The '89 manual isn't showing any kind of code that you have listed. The vin number is on the passenger side, towards the front of the transmission. It should be this if it's the original:

9YK267-A The 9 is the year '89 The YK is the MODEL <Corvette> the last three numbers is the "Julian Date". Or the numbered day of the year it was made. The A is for "Shift Built" It could be A&B or C&H. Hope this helps.

If the "YK" is the corvette ID then it seems that i have a foreign tranny (but definitely a 700R4). Does anybody knows what's the difference between the 700r4-s made for different cars?
