Agressive braking causes Service ABS and Service ASR lights to come on??
This seems to happen every so often on my 92 coupe. Say like in a parking lot or something or when braking hard. It's not all the time. The lights will come on. As soon as I shut the car off and restart it, it's normal again. Is this a bad ABS sensor or something? Is it normal?
Thanks
Steve

This is not normal. I've autocrossed for the last five years which puts the brakes thru some very agressive braking. I have never had the service lights come on, only the ABS enabled lights go one for a second or two when I start braking during the autocross action. Even then it's rare for the lights to go on.

I figured it wasnt normal. Everything seems to work fine though. ABS and ASR active lights come on when they are activated. That all seems to work great.
Hmm...

A ODBI scanner that also has the chassis module would be able to tell what code is being set. There are some small shops around that have the Snap-On scanner with this module. Try calling some shops. Of course dealerships have them also.

Something I noticed when i went out and looked at my car. It has those disc brake dust shield things on it. The previous owner installed them. But there is a TON of metallic brake dust/stuff on the inside of the wheels and in that area. I'm wondering if this might be causing a problem with the ABS sensors.
I searched and found this thread where it looks like I can do a diagnostics of my own on the ABS system. http://corvetteactioncenter.com/foru...bs+diagnostics
Is there a preferred cleaner to clean these sensors. Regular brake cleaner?
Thanks

Brake cleaner should work fine.

Top off the brake fluid??

Just checked the codes... it was getting H83 which is low fluid history code. I checked it and it wasnt real low or anything, but I topped it off just for sure.
Hmm....

The brake fluid level sensor in the master resevoir is pretty sensitive. Sometimes only being less than a 1/4 inch low will activate the lights.

Yup its the fluid just add some.
