Default Whats your best C5 mpg?

I bought my 6-speed Y2k C5 about 6 months ago. Been very pleased with the mpg. About 90% of my driving is interstate. My best (on a trip of at least 100 miles) has been 34.2. Commuting to work, with some city driving, I avg about 32. When I fill up my range is 600+. I was reluctant to buy a Vette because I only expected to get 18-20 or so with a V-8, but so far been very satisfied.

Two weeks ago, my C5 Coupe A4 (9000 on the odometer) got 32.7 MPG on a short run of about 12-15 miles on the Palisades Interstate Parkway. I had just changed the oil (Mobile 1 5w-30) and filter and pumped the EMTs up to 31psi cold. Mobile 93 octane, full tanks.

Normally I see about 22-24 mpg in the city and typically see 27-28 mpg on extended interstate runs thru the mountains of Pennsylvania at 75mph.

I've never kept a mileage log, but now wish I had because it seems that my fuel efficiency is slightly better now than when the car was new. I've heard some say that the LS1 won't be fully "broken in" until after 15000 miles. Any truth to that?

That may be true, about the breaking in. Mine is getting ready to turn over 50K. The only mods are Borla exhaust, and last week I put in a K&N.

My neighbor has a '99 hardtop with MN6 that he just took on vacation from Florida to West Virginia. His total average mileage for the trip was around 33 mpg. There were times that it jumped up to 34, but the overall average was 33. He called when he first got into WV to tell me the mileage for his trip. He was totally suprised at how good the mileage was. He has about 30k on his machine.

My best was 32.4 . But I never get that good on the gas I buy here in N.E. Indiana . It's always better on gas down in Kentucky or Tennasee . 30 mpg here . Cliff

Trip up to Philly and back average was about 25. I expect a little better once I get this thing tuned up. Didn't have a chance between the time I bought it and we took the trip.

My buddy and his wife and my wife and I drove our '98 convert. and 95' coupe, respectively from Ohio to Nashville a few weeks ago. I have a 3:08 with 20K miles. His '98 has about 6K. Both are automatics. We were running between 70-80mph. About 1/2 way to BG his '98 was averaging 25.7. My '95 was averaging 25.9. This was a combination of ups and downs with some straight-a-ways.
Steady state on a flat strip of interstate showed both at about 34mpg. A slight down hill or up hill, though, changes that rapidly, as you would expect.

As a side note, each time we compared operating temps his 98 was running about 5 degrees F cooler, across the board, engine to transmission.
