1985 dash

When I bought my 85 the dash wasn't working then the other day I started the car it was all working 100%. Yesterday I started and dash wasn't working again. Anyone have any ideas of what to look for and where to go to fix so it works all the time? Lol

That's really the best advice - to get FSM. And get familiar with it. If ya' want to have a nice car, you want to know it's RIGHT.

Until it comes in, pull the battery. Then break down the dash instr cluster, CAREFULLY, paying attention to where EACH SCREW goes (when I do a strange part, EVERY screw goes back in the empty hole, til re-assembly).

Then examine ground connections in the cluster mount. You'll see stuff, learn what it is, and later, when something breaks, you'll have a head start on knowing your way around.

Costs time, but later, you'll SAVE BIG money... (unless you're rich, and don't worry about that stuff)

The gm Factory Service Manuals. There two of them Volume 1 and Volume 2. They are year specific. Check Ebay for them.

Didn't get to look at dash yet but got mad and smacked the bottom of the dash by the door and it started to work. So I guess the problem is in the dash somewhere. Lol

That's too bad that it started to work. Really. Because you have to catch it in the act, to fix it. ESPECIALLY with electricity.

But maybe you can smack it again, and make it go off...
