    Default 4 + 3 over drive

Hope this will help anyone in a parts problem with an inoperative overdrive due to the #2 switch. Just spent some time sorting out an '84 with no overdrive, the switch could not be sourced so after some digging found a POLLAK unit part #21-482 that is mechanically identical, but it has a two wire harness that can be cut and a plug body installed. Then plugs in without cutting trans harness. Now she has overdrive that brings highway mileage from 16 to 25. Could not believe the difference! Lots of steps in diagnosis but tracking it down was great. Appears that original switches are all from POLLAK so I think they all can be had.

yes, the gear position switch is on the transmission.
there is one for first, second and fourth; POLLAK was original supplier.
