    Default parking brake

My parking brake sticks when I use it, I have to play with it for a few minutes to finally get it to release. I have used white lithium grease and that helps, but is not a fix.
Seems to be rusted and without tearing it apart, I cannot get to the rusted areas.
Is there a really thin file or another way fix this?

I would get another one, but I think it would end up the same way.

Most, likely your cables are rusted inside the protective coating, which means they are junk. Time to replace them, mine went on my Ford Focus, new ones fixed the exact problem you are describing. The more you use it the less likely it is to stick and freeze up. If your cars is a manual you should use it all the time anyway.

Don't think so, when I press the button in to release the brake. The brake stays where it is till I mess with it a few minutes.
I am pretty sure the problem is in the brake handle mechanism itself.

The tab that releases the locking pawl is probably bent meaning it is not dis-engaging properly
With the brake lever exposed look between sill and lever and you can see the release tab; check if it is pushing down all the way

Ah, I see, sorry, I misunderstood your post, that and I have preconceived ideas on your problem. I would check it according to the post above. Would n't hurt to check the cables while your at it however.
