thermostat question
Hello all, I noticed in my factory shop manual,in the cooling system section, that the thermostat has a wax pellet. The thermostats I looked at in the auto parts stores have a copper pellet.I'm planning to replace the stat on my 90 coupe and was just curious as to what the difference was.Is this a Chevy dealer item or parts store?Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

You might want to consider installing a fail-safe t-stat. If it fails, it fails in the 'open' position:

There are several brands on the market, so check around..

i agree .. installing a fail safe t-stat .. may protect your engine in the event of failure .. as you will notice your temperature rising slowly. With conventinal stats if they fail in the closed position, the outcome are not usually good (engine seisure ... worse case scenerio)
my 2 cents for today .. lol
