Default Time to Sell My 89? What's it worth?

    Hello all,

Looking for advice/input. Considering selling my 1989 convertible. Too many cars, too little garage space!
Thought I would start here before going to the C4 For Sale section.
I look forward to your comments regarding price/value.
    Thanks - Paul

Very clean, very original, low mileage C4 that has been covered and garage kept.
This great looking roadster is a blast to drive and is outstanding both mechanically and cosmetically.
Fully equipped and well maintained with battery and dash bulbs recently replaced.

You can check edmunds and blue book for some values.

But with the winter approached, that will be a factor because the car won't be driveable for a few months. There will be some buyers out there who are trying to get a good deal because of that factor. But in the south, they can drive their Vette's year round and they probably move faster down there.

Anyway, good luck with your sale and I hope you get what you want for it.

By looking at my CPI Book I would say you should be able to get 11-12k for it if it is in very good condition. A friend of mine up here just sold an 89 Vert with 57k on it for 9500.

Mannnn... You Must Be Fast, Because You Were Haulin ASS When I Passed You!!

It's worth less then you have in it. But just enough to use as a downpayment on something newer.

    NICE CAR.
Low milage, original, not tampered with, excellent condition: You should get high end price.
Wait it out, someone will pay a good price for it.

Actually if you wanted to save some stress, you could have it shipped to my house. I would pay the shipping offcourse.

Actually in reality what you get out of it is what someone is willing to pay for it. Aim a little higher, and then you can come down. Did you check ebay, to see what they are going for through the auctions.

    Good luck

I looked for a C4 vert for months on end, and couldn't find anything for under 10 grand unless it was really high mileage. I think 14k for it would be a great deal for someone... you should be able to get more than that.

Thanks to everyone for the input. Some very good information. Looks like I have some things to think about as I consider if/when/how much to sell this one. Certainly, if any of you know someone who is looking, have them contact me.

I think it would be in the $13-14k range, maybe a bit more being a convertible. I just bought my 91 coupe w/ 37k miles for $13,500.

I sold my 88 vert this summer for $14000. It had 48000 on it, manual trans. It was an ultra clean show car. If it is not ultra clean everywhere like engine compartment, interior, underside, etc you wont get that kind of money. Condition dictates price. You can find them them for $10,000 or less if they are not perfect. You should ask more like $14 or $15 for yours. It looks like it is worth it based on the description.
