    Default Too rice?

While my intake is apart (AGAIN), I'm replacing all the old, dead wire looming that I can reach, plus moving most of the wires to under the plenum for a cleaner look. I'm also considering replacing the smaller hoses (breather, etc, which are now black rubber instead of the metal that GM used) with silicon for heat and looks issues.

Is it too rice to do all these in red to match the car's exterior color? Red hoses, red wire loom, red spark plug looms, maybe red plug wires if I need silicon ones, and probably a red plenum lid.

    Opinions?

    Thanks.

It is more a matter of what you think and like. It is called personalizing your car. Myself , I like oem. I like the look of the car being like it came out . Kind of a feeling of , I kept it up all along. Maybe has something to do with not being a kid anymore myself. I say " if you like it go for it" . Just don't burn rice in it .

PS maybe go with a contrasting color. ?

I thought about a contrasting color (maybe yellow), but with the remaining black and silver (aluminum, etc) stuff under there that would be four colors underhood which might be a bit much.

Were it a blue car, I'd probably have gone yellow, or black exterior with red stuff, but what contrasts well with red exterior?

Have you thought that a real good true black with all that silver might look as good as anything? I am talking a real nice shiny black.

Ken , is that intake eaten away a little at the end ? next to the water port .

Nah, just a little gasket material where it tore.

Woooo! Didn't have to take the manifold off, just the runners/plenum/fuel rail/valve covers/4 rocker arms... .

Looks like you need a composite gasket .

They look like the 1205's I'm using. What's the difference?

I grabbed a picture at random, Rich, just to show the gasket style (the blue stripe). My number is 1209.

Ah. 1209 must be HUGE... Hope my 1205's hold up... there are some places where, like yours, the inner gasket edge is a little bit closer to the outside than I'd prefer. Tried three different brands, though, and they all did the same thing.

Mine are the "large port", not their "extra large."
