Default Rear Wing on a C4

I'm helping my friend put on a rear wing on his 1995 convertible. Does anyone have any helpful hints?

Thanks,

Rich

Yes, accidentally step on it and snap it in half......that way he won't be able to put it on. IMHO, that's the best help you can give him.

(If you haven't guessed, I don't care for wings on Corvettes)

No, but I bet you would if you added an RX7 (or 8) sticker.

I must admit though that the appearence of some cars is definitely enhanced by the addition of a wing. Take the mid to late 90's Pontiac Grand Ams for example.

But a wing on a Corvette? Maybe the early C4's, but it is reverse geometry on a late C4 in my opinion.....the lines flow contrary to the flow and contour of the back end.

The late C3's definitely needed something on their drooping back ends.....the factory "spoiler" looks nice. A wing, even there however, would be an "overkill".

In most cases, "wing" and "rice" are synonomous.

Nothing for nothing, I have a greenwood package on my 87 convertible and it looks great(pictures will be posted soon)however, you want to make sure its secured right. Mine has a bracket at both ends that connects the wing to the chassis so it doesnt flex to rear bumper any. Some are put on cheaply and only attach to the bunper. Joel

No wings & no spoilers... These do nothing but spoil the car. C4 body has been built with a philosophy behid it; slender & slick lines and no exegeration in the appearance. Do not spoil it! Don't make it look like an elephant for God's sake.

So in other words if Corvettes came with 350ci motor I shouldn't put my 420ci motor in.

Wings are eazy to install just take out the rear tail lights....

Hey, guys...how quickly this thread has gone downhill! I don't think Rich asked for opinions on whether to put on wings or not...he asked for advice on the installation. Unfortunately, very few have given him any!

Rich, I can't help you with your request, but I wish you luck. As an aside, I had a yellow '88 convertible with a full Greenwood package and loved it!

GS Diva, Rich started his forum by asking "Does anyone have any helpful hints?" and we all gave him the hint... What's wrong with that???

What's wrong? Something is very wrong when the hints are nothing more than thinly veiled insults and some that are not so thinly veiled!! How would you like it if someone called your choice of Corvette modification "rubbish"?? We all have our likes and dislikes, especially when it comes to Corvettes and what we do to them. But when someone asks for help in installing a wing, I don't think the answer he's looking for is a slap in the face!

Let's all be adults here and lend a hand when we can...otherwise, keep our negative criticism to ourselves!

Elaine
