Removing the rear CORVETTE letters w/o harming the paint.

I need to know if I can remove the Rear CORVETTE lettering on my '85 Vette w/o hurting the paint. The letters were installed off center when I had the rear repaired. I never noticed it until years later. The repair shop has since gone out of business. Can anyone help?

Pasted on, you might try a hair dryer to soften the sticky.
Someone may assist with a better solution.

I didn't remove the letters but I did remove/replace the emblems on the hood and gas tank lid. You can use a hair dryer to soften the adhesive and I used fishing line to saw between the emblem and hood. Take your time and they will come off. I then used 3M adhesive remover to clean up the area before putting on the new emblems. They are held on with heavy duty double stick tape.

That's what I did to remove a C-5 emblem years ago,no damage to the paint at all.

Once you remove by floss you will have the old adhesive revealed. It is easily removed by goo-gone or other adhesive removers OR ronsonol, or naptha.

Use a cotton cloth and dont rub too hard. Later polish with white compound/polish.

DONT even think of using acetone or other paint dissolving liquids.

Don't forget to save the letters or logo that you took off. The new buyer may want to re enstall them..
