I did more than my share of street racing when I had my '96 LT4. Everything from a 00 Mustang Cobra, to a tuned Impala SS, to a lot of imports. The only time I ever lost a race was against some dude with a fox body Rustang. It was in primer, the front air damn had duct tape on it... Should have been an easy kill, we were on the interstate, and we both nailed it at the same time. He had NOS, and blew me away.
My street racing days came to an end when I went sideways one time, and almost sideswiped a Jeep Cherokee. Luckily for me, nothing was damaged, well, other than my ego.
So moral of the story, even now, there is not a lot on the road that will keep up with a C4.

Towu4Free - It's great to hear that a 19 year old has such a passion for C4 Vette's: My 1st Vette was a Torch Red LT4!
SOG - To bad your feeble old mind is so pickled, if not you could remember the LS1 was not broke and the BMR did get beat.
BTW - The LS6 stuffed under the hood of the MY Roadster is a nice option!

Unless you are at a racetrack...NONE.
Refer to D's post just today as a reminder to NEVER street race....

I get it ALL the time, from diesel pickups to grocery carts with engines...and I could care less which vehicle gets to the next light faster. It just ain't worth it.
I think the thought that I consider is that there is always somebody faster. Never know what the guy is running under the hood next to you.
As far as street racing, probably not the greatest idea. I have done it before, but I was younger than. I can't say that I don't accelerate really quickly to the speed limit! Always controlled off course. Usually that is about all it takes for someone to back off. Now if your nose and nose to the speed limit that's a different story. This may mean that the car's are more evenly matched, and a longer run is needed to decide. That's not my cup of tea. I don't need any tickets or insurance claims.
It really does not matter
Just enjoying your Corvette should be enough. Here in the UK, we often get people with "Hair Dryer" powered motors revving loudly at the traffic lights as we wait for them to go green and we just smile at them because we are driving a Corvette, and they're not. Just knowing that you can blow most of them off the road with ease gives you way more satisfaction than flooring it. And remember this, if you floor the beast at every opportunity, the one thing you will not be able to pass will be a gas station and given the price of gas here in the UK, that's a big issue. If simply getting into your Corvette does not put a big grin on your face, you might want to think about getting a different car. When my wife is kind enough to let me drive her Corvette, I assure you that it puts a big grin on my face even though my own 300C Hemi is way quicker. I love my Hemi but driving my wife's Corvette gives me a "Thrill" factor that my car lacks.

You never know when you will get your a$$ handed to you. Years ago I had a 66 Cutlass that I put a 455 into and turbo hydro 400, and a 411 posi. It was fast!! Until one day a Chevy truck gave me an attitude adjustment. I had him to about 95 Mph and then he blew past me. Never saw him again to find out what he was hiding under the bonnet.
