Default removing the A/C box from the engine side of firewall

75 vert. the engine is out and Im detailing the engine compartment,(of course Im replacing the or restoring the A/c unit during this process. ) I can see all the bolts the hold the unit in place. but because the hose/bolts are froze on the alluminom canister I have to try to remove the box and canister all at the same time. Is this posible?. or should I cut the lines ? Im gona replace the canister with a vip elimenator unit, and convert to a serpitine drive system. so where do I sacrafice parts and how is the original system held in place under the box?, is the heater core inside the firewall?, is the condenser inside the box?,and will it have any conections to the firewall?.
    sorry 4 this being long

I guess you can cut the lines? I would buy new ones first to be sure the lines are replacable. I have a 79 L82, my condensor is half in the box, half out of the box. Thats all I got. Good Luck

You can use an evap from late 77 to 82. There is one screw from inside the car out. Passenger floor. The rest are outside. The box is somewhat sealed to the cowl with what we use to call "dumb dumb". The box conatins the evaporator and you would be surprised how much junk "ie leaves twiggs" have gotten down into the coil. The heater core is inside the car. The serpentine belt is another subject. I used the setup out of an 4.3 S10 but hood clearence can be an issue. I had an L88 hood so it was ok

That "magic" box is bad about collecting header radiant heat. While you have everything apart it might be a good time to reduced this design flaw be coating or wraping the headers and adding reflective insulation to the box.
