Default hand brake on center console

The chrome retainer around the button on my hand brake is chipped. Does anyone know anything about replacing or repairing it? I don't want to spend $100 on a new handle just to replace the retainer.

    Default E-Brake handle

I think the thing needs to be redesigned out of aluminum or something. Mine cracked about halfway down underneath and flexes badly every time I set it. I assume its due to the fact that thats where the metal part ends.

I saw a custom one in a pic by a guy in europe that was aluminum and pretty cool looking. Tried to get him to sell me one but he didn't want to share.

Know of any that won't break after a few years use?
