Fuel odor culprit found...
...thanks to Chuck-75, Bill75, 78SilvAnniv, and Craigi. Just as some had expected, the rubber lines from the tank to the steel lines were dry rotted and leaking. I can't believe those lines didn't last any longer than 30 yrs! (joking obviously). I was surprised that the job wasn't any more difficult than it was. I dropped the tank and replaced the lines in a couple of hours.
Again...thanks for the information! This forum is a huge help!

Yea! Glad it was an easy fix. Was there a tank sticker while you had the tank down?

To be honest, I didn't even notice if there was a tank sticker or not. If I would have realized the significance of it, I may have paid closer attention.
