    Default Dart Iron Eagle heads

Are these good heads how do they compare to the sportman 2. I am looking at the ones form sdpc they have a kit for 900 bucks. The combo would be
    350 bored 30
    lunati voodoo cam 60102LK 262/268 219/227 .468"/.489" 112/108 Hyd/Hyd 1400-5800
Weiand Stealth duel plane intake and a holley 770cfm carb.

This is what the sdpc kit has
64cc Dart Iron Eagle head kit for small block Chevy. 2.020"/1.600" valve diameter (intake/exhaust).

The SDPC Dart Iron Eagle Head kits includes one pair of Dart Iron Eagle assembled cylinder heads, ARP High Performance Series 170,000 psi head bolts and a pair of Fel-Pro #1003, pre-flattened steel, .041 in. thick, 4.166 in. bore, head gaskets.

    Thanks

Go with whichever heads that have an intake port around 170 to 180cc.Resist the temtation to go bigger.Edelbrock Perfomers would also work well with your combination.

Desktop dyno says max hp 385 @ 5000 rpm and torque 452 @ 3500. The compression ratio was at 10.2 in the test(deck clearance to .010 and using 4cc for valve reliefs volume). A little high for iron heads. Detonation could be a problem. A weird thing though, if you lower the cam ramp acceleration rate from 3.7 to 3.0, which is probably closer to actual, the horse power peaks at about 5000 and hangs in there till about 5800. Also the torque range broadens and average torque is slightly increased while peak torque is reduced . Sure would like to know the actual cam timing specs. The Edelbrock Performer heads show peak hp of 338 and torque of 423. The compression ratio dropped to 9.54 to 1 because of the larger (70cc) combustion chamber.

Most of these aftermarket heads are available in different chamber volumes. Try to keep iron heads below 9.5 if you want to run pump gas without additive. You can go 10.5 with aluminum. You can go with a bigger chamber then adjust your head gasket thickness to dial in your CR. Make sure you add your deck height and gasket volume into the calculations.

Ok, I goofed up. With the 72cc iron eagle heads,4 cc valve relief volume, pistons .010 in the hole, gasket 4.166 bore and .041 thick, the compression ratio is 9.35 to 1. Sorry for the error. The power is now 359 hp @ 5000 and tq is 439 @ 3500 with a 3.7 lifter acceleration rate. changing lifter acceleration rate to 3.0 gets 360 hp and 430 ft/lb.
