1969 linkage replacement 350/300hp
I am at my witts end with this 4 speed shifter linkage replacement. It is a 1969 original I have asked for help and everyone has been great explaining to me what to do, but it (I) can't make it to happen.
All of you that I have talked with basically said disconnect linkage use allen wrench or something to keep evrything aligned, replace linage arms , adjust and so on.
I cannot for the life of me find anyplace to put an allen wrench or any whole to place anything. I have looked from top and bottom. New linkage kit came with a small tool that looks like a 3" tongue depresser it states to use this. I have pulled out instructions ond can see where it says it should go and can't find it either.
I cannot find anyplace to put allen wrench. I am at a loss what to do?
I have arms off but need to find out how to hold shifter plates in nuetral position.
If anyone has a diagram or knows of a reason I cannot see the whole, other then I am blind. please let me know.
Thanks guys..

You might want to clue us in on what linkage you're talking about.

Neutral is both levers straight up 12:00 oclock. I too was looking for "adjustment aligning hole" and could never find. I think some linkages just dont have it?

I know most all NEW Hurst shifters come with the neutral aligning hole.....but it's a different bear entirely. I've seen a long tool that appeared to have to be inserted from the back side of the shifter to align.....you may doublecheck shop manuals or the like. Once I started trying to align the stock shifter it was enough to convince me to throw a Hurst Comp Plus on there and be done with it.

The "tongue depressor" neutral gate-setting gage is made from 1/8" thick stock, .646" wide, and 3" long; it fits in a slot centered at the bottom of the shifter bracket. The adjustment procedure is outlined in detail in both the Assembly Manual and on page 7-13 in the 1969 Chassis Service Manual.
