Default 82 700R4 Tailshafthouse vs. Modified 700R4 Tailshafthouse for TH400

    Hello,

I'm trying to fit a 700R4 on a 81 chassis (yes the old story) only problem is that it's a 90er Corvette 700R4. So no mounting position on the transmission it self as on a 350. The best way is to get a 82 Crossmember (looking and have an option on one) and a 82 Corvette 700R4 tailshafthouse. But they're hard to find...
So my question is this, there are also the modified 700R4 tailshafthouse to use when you had a TH400 or 200R4..

My question is, what is the distance between the bolt side of this tailshafthousing and the mountingholes on the foot/bracket? Is it possible with this tailshafthousing to bolt the 700R4 directly on a 82 crossmember without drilling or cutting the crossmember?
So i need the distance from bolt side to mountingholes of a 82 tailshafthousing and the conversion one..
    Thanks in advance,

    Greetings Peter.

You can buy conversion crossmembers from BowTie Overdrives.

    Thanks for your reply Joe,

Of course i've looked into the bowtie crossmembers. But i don't know if they are the right one's.. The bowtie crossmember for the 700r4 on a 81/82 frame show's that the transmission mountingplace is in front of the crossmember. With normal 700R4's this is true which mount on the transmissionbody but mine hasn't got the mountingplace on the 700R4 body but on the tailshaft (and the c4 tailshaft has a totaly other mountingplace, which normaly is a connecting beam between the transmission and the diff. and that isn't going to work on my chassis) So with the moutingplace on the tailshaft the mountingplace wil be in middle of the crossmember and not in front of it.

The 200R4 Crossmember could also be an option with the tailshaft which is shown above (200r4 to 700r4 conversion tailshaft). But Bowtie states they don't know for sure that the original exhaust wil fit under it.. The 82 crossmember will fit with the original exhaust system. So i have some doubt's with the bowtie crossmember.
I hope somebody here has a 82 or the conversion tailshaft to messure some things so i know the facts.

    Greetings Peter.
