    Default water pump identification...

    im purchasing things for my engine ...small block..and im being asked if its a long or short water pump. when i bought the pump i dont recall being asked if i wanted short or long... , but i need to know how to tell the diffrence. can anybody explain the diffrence and how to tell ? thanks , chas

    I think that you can tell by the number of belt grooves on the w/p pulley? One = short and two=long?

    the long water pump sits further out from the block and has longer runners, Corvettes use short water pumps.

    short is on right, long on left the fan and pulleys are further from the block with a long pump
