There are two access holes at the base of the windshield, one on each side close to the hood latches. They are filled with a rubber plug that you can pull out and then poke a screwdriver through the holes and trip the latch. If the hood release cable connecting the left and right side latches is still intact, you should be able to operate both of them just by working through the left (driver's) side access hole.

I'm sure someone else here can come up with a picture or diagram for you to show you exactly what you're tyring to hit with the screwdriver.

would anyone suggest pulling the crossover cable instead? I'd have to wreck the cover for it though... I tried that screw driver thing but to no avail.. ill keep trying though

    Default Last ditch effort...

I would keep trying the screw driver thing if I were you. Study the pictures on the link Sly posted. It might take a while, but it will work.

If all else fails, I know that at least one guy here at CAC had to lay on the ground, reach up under the nose of the car and unbolt the hood from the hinges and get it open that way - but that means re-aligning the hood and getting it all straight again when you're done.

You can try pulling on the crossover cable, but won't that only open the passenger side latch? I'm not sure, never really thought about that option.

I hope that you get it without any more trouble - let us know how it turns out.

Could you forward me the picture you were sent so that I can attempt to release the hood? I have poked around with a screwdriver for some time but have not been successful. Thanks so much!

I don't know where you found this thread, but it died eight years ago, and the author of the last post you wanted information from hasn't posted since 2004. Maybe someone else will chime in with what you need.

I had my cable break before and it sucks. I'm not sure if you broke your pull cable or the cross cable, but if it's your cross cable, you might find the replacements are typically really cheaply made and won't last. Here's the fix I did for the cross cable. Hopefully it helps someone else not have to deal with this!!
