    Default Edelbrock Gasgacinch equivalent?

About to install my new Edlebrock intake and Edelbrock indicates you should apply Edelbrock Gasgacinch sealer to both the gasket and head surface. What that heck is Gasfacinch and how do you even say it

I figure I would attempt to follow the instructions to a T but no one stocks this. Is there an equivalent? I picked up some Permatex Hylomar HPF gasket dressing and flange sealant. It indicates its for inlet manifolds. It will not foul sensors and resistant to automotive fluids including gas etc. Same thing as Gasgacinch?

    Thanks!

Gasgacinch is just a tacky adhesive (not a sealant) that holds the gasket in position, and you only need a few spots of it on the head side of the gaskets so they don't move around. Permatex "High-Tack" and others like Indian Head Shellac serve the same purpose.

Default Although current feeling is all dry on head gaskets...

...especially copper ones, I've used a sorta similar stuff which does also serve as a sealant a little, although it's so thin it's shellac-like - and that's Copper Coat. I think it's also a Permatex product, but I can't recall. It sprays on sticky and dries to a tacky consistency which also serves to fill in small irregularities without getting too thick. Years later it seems to clean well enough with brake cleaner.

Thanks Guys - I think I F'd up. I was so excited to get it together I went ahead and used the HPF last night before waiting for a response based on other things I had read. Not the dumbest thing I've done but....

What do ya think - do I have a chance at this not leaking?

If everything was aligned properly and didn't shift during intake installation, you'll probably be fine. Did you use the end seals that came with the side gaskets or RTV instead of the end seals?

Did a nice job of setting it straight down - no shifting or repositioning.

I did use Black RTV (Right Stuff) on the end seals. This forum is more than clear about tossing the supplied gaskets. (Even Edelbrocks instruction tell you to toss em).

I will leave as is and hope for the best. Thank you for the replies!

BTW - you have my dream vet. What got me searching for a Vet was a Marine Blue 67 - he wanted 32K for it and at the time I wasn't educated enough to know if it was matching # or worth the price. He sold it by the time I was ready to seriously make an offer. Been kicking myself ever since for letting that one get by! It is without a doubt my favorite year vet!
