    Default Help, Coolant leak.

    Hi everyone.
I noticed a coolant leak the other day and tried to find the source today.
The coolant is leaking onto the fuel pump and drips off the bottom of it onto the floor. I have checked all the hoses for leaks, but these are new Coolflex hoses and they only have rubber at the ends, as they are a copper hose. The water pump is new and the heater is not connected. There are no trails of white dried coolant on the pump, hoses, radiator or around the thermostat housing.

I have a bad feeling it may be the whelch plug behind the engine mount as it also drips from around here.
It only drips after the thermostat has opened and the water circulates trough the engine.

What do you guys think, have you any tips?

The engine temps are maintained at 160 degrees and it doesn't get hot. Mind you, I do have a big block radiator in there looking after things!

Maybe it's time for the engine to come out?

I'm in the same boat with you. I have a terrible coolant leak as well. I have yet to put a lot of time in tracking it down (been fixing other things ), because it doesn't seem like a problem that requires immediate attention, but it is quite bothersome.

Have you looked around your tstat? It might be that gasket, or maybe even the intake gasket (I think that's where mine is weeping from).

Nah, 'dry as a baby's bum'!

It hasn't so far effected the cooling, thermostat opens at 160 and water floods through the engine as it should. I have checked the temp guage sender unit to see if it is that even.
Can't find this gremlin, so I am thinking whelch plug leak or head gasket, but the head gaskets are new as the old ones were 23 years old and there are no usual signs of head gasket leaks, like increases in temperature or water in oil.

I may put her up on ramps or wait until Friday and take her down to the local mechanics and put her up on a hoist to see whats going on.

    Cheers
