Default How to remove lock from glove box on '79??

I am refurbishing the in interior on my '79 and need to separate the skin from the glove box door. In order to do that the lock needs to come apart.

Anybody out there know the trick on how to disassemble the lock?

AJ

Thanks Duke, I'll give it a try. Looks simple enough.

No joy. Tried Duke's method and it's not cooperating. I pushed that tab in, and inserted the key - then roated it so the tab was out of sight. According to my understanding that should have allowed the lock to come apart.

I now have a floppy lock assembly that rotates freely 360 degrees, but won't budge to come apart.

What am I missing??

OK got it.

Not sure what I did right, but the parts disassembled themselves after I pestered them into submission. Looks like the escutcheon nut gets screwed to the housing (which mine wasn't) before assembling the lock assembly. But I'll worry about that another day.

Cheers
