Benson and Hornaday take their chase down to the wire
Truck series rivals 3 points apart
HOMESTEAD, Fla. - Trying to capture his second consecutive NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship and fourth overall, Ron Hornaday found himself in trouble last weekend at Phoenix.
The only consolation was that points leader Johnny Benson did, too. Both ended the night with severely wrecked trucks and finished one position apart.
"I'm just glad they both pulled a bonehead on the same night," said Hornaday's team owner, Kevin Harvick.

Talk about one hell of a race...I'm still shocked that Hornaday pitted at the end. Soon as the caution came out I was thinking...Ron and Kevin will both stay out, even if the entire rest of the field comes in, Benson still won't be in third and Kevin will be there to slow him down a bit to keep him from getting to Ron too quickly. So much for my thinking huh? What a turn around at the end of the race though, ten to go and Ron looked like he was on cruise control to the title and then it completely turned around.

Yep the pit-stop was a little surprising, but why take 4 tires when 2 was the winning combo(easy to make calls from this perspective). The late cautions didn't help Hornaday either.
Come on next year's Camping World Truck Series!

Horaday missed bs 7 points. I wanted Ron to win as he is carrying the Chevy banner!
