PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO ALTER THE BACKGROUND COLOR

I can,t see links I or others post at times due to the white background and white links, most forums on most sites alow the appearance to be changed, PLEASE TELL ME HOW so I can darken the background enought to see some links posted:D;help;help
