Default Need Advice Guys-96C4 conv LT1 auto Performance

When I said EXPERT I meant someone with experience that knows the do's and don'ts when it comes to Corvette Convertable LT1 performance modifications. I am not a Gear Head by any means. Hell, the hardest job I've ever done is replace a rack and pinion in an 89 mustang when I was a broke kid. I'm serious about getting this car done right and don't want to waste time and money.

This is What I have:
96 convertible LT1 automatic 28kmi. small oil leak front main I am told its from sitting for a long time, needs new tires, front end alignment, and brakes feel like rotors are trashed from high speed braking.

My questions are:

1)LT1to Lt4 conversion? SLP kit? 400-500HP would be great!

2)Advice about the automatic. Shift kits? Performance replacement?

3)Gear Ratio for the Rear End?

4)I like the stock exhaust tips. What performance systems are good but not too loud? Id still like to talk to the passenger in a normal voice. Borla? Flowmaster? opinions?

[b][size=4]Budget 5k but will spend up to 8K if absolutely required.

Well, I am by no means an "expert", but here's what I have for you. The oil leak may or may not be the front main....these engines are well known for their propensity to leak from the intake (at the front or the rear) so take that for what it's worth.

I can tell you though, that if you want a performance exhaust that won't drive you out of the car that Corsa is the only way to go. Do a search here and read what others say. I put the Corsa on my 94 and love it. Great sound, good looks (IMO), No resonance at any speed, and will let everyone know when you "nail it".

So for answering your questions, these are the ones I feel confident in answering for you.

Yeah....... Sorry about that. I tried to change the title after posting it but was unable to do so. I meant "Experienced" since this is my first Vette I was looking for 1st hand advice from guys that have "been there and done that" and know whats actually the best avenue to take.

For example: I know a guy that spent over 6k on a pro-charger, Alcohol injection, bigger injectors, fuel pump, etc. in an 04 Stang. Sure he got over 600 dyno tested HP...... However, the tranny failed a few thousand miles later and I'll bet more problems are soon to follow since the stock components were not engineered to handle that kind of muscle.

I am a complete novice aside from helping the old man over the years change out a few overhead cams, rack and pinions, water pumps, oil pumps, and that kind of "gotta do-it" type stuff. I know very little about performance modifications.

Any help in the right direction is much appreciated.
