Corvette driver dies in wreck on Snyder Freeway
Sunday, October 21, 2007
UPDATED: 1:16 PM
The Courier-Journal
Louisville, Kentucky
Police are on the scene of a fatal wreck on the Gene Snyder Freeway near New Cut Road.
Lt. Jim Sohan, of the Louisville Metro Police, said a woman in her 50s was behind the wheel of a blue Corvette heading toward Dixie Highway when the sports car veered into the grassy median, crossed the opposing lanes of traffic, went through a line of trees and finally jumped a 4-foot wire fence, coming to rest about 40 yards from the nearest pavement.
The vehicle was completely destroyed, and Sohan said the woman was dead when police arrived on the scene. Parts of the car's windshield were hanging in a tree, he said, and a Jefferson County, Ky., vanity license plate was later found nearby.
The woman's husband was following her on the highway in another Corvette, Sohan said. Further details about the couple were not immediately available. Sohan said the woman was driving at a high rate of speed, and the couple may have been heading to a car show.

Rob- that was a terrible accident- it was about 15 miles from my house. The woman may have had a medical issue...

Woman killed on Snyder was Cheri Honadel, 53
A woman who was killed when the Corvette she was driving veered off the Snyder Freeway on Sunday has been identified as 53-year-old Cheri Ladonna Honadel.
Honadel, of the 5300 block of Ronwood Drive, died at the scene between New Cut and Stonestreet roads just after noon, said Eddie Robinson, a Jefferson County deputy coroner.
Honadel was westbound when her car veered into the grassy median, crossed the opposing lanes, went through a line of trees and flew over a 4-foot wire fence before landing in a field, Robinson and police said. She was wearing a seat belt.
Honadel's husband was following her in another Corvette, police said.

accident
I wonder if they were going down to the Z06 Fest that was going on at the Museum that weekend. I was down there with the Corvettes Limited Club doing a static show on the square in Bowling Green for a Diabetes walk but I stopped by the Museum on the way home and there were a few Z06 cars there and a group were pulling in as I was leaving.
