Default Any Top Gear Viewers Here?

Yes, we've seen YouTube clips of the show where they pick on the Corvette. Jeremy Clarkson is well known for his dislike of American makes. Fortunately, he doesn't just reserve his pointed witticisms for American cars, he frequently pokes fun at the Germans by pointing out that their Nav systems are pre-set to invade Poland.

In any event, I've been watching it on Monday nights on BBC America for the past several weeks, and I've found it to be pretty funny.

Well, tomorrow night, there's an episode on BBC-A in which the trio from Top Gear come over to the States and pay a visit to Alabama. I'm already bracing myself for how they lampoon us.

Anyone else watch Top Gear?

I've seen part of the Alabama show and you're in for a laugh! Top Gear also produces a magazine and, if anything, it's funnier than the shows.

And Hamster (you will get this after watching the shows) messing up the A/C in Captian Slow's Caddy. Very good show though they ruin it with the ads here in American Land (as Clarkson would say). Too bad about the fire there too. Go to finalgear.com for more about Top Gear and 5th gear.

Having been watching it on Monday nights since BBC started airing the current series in September, I'm already familiar with Richard Hammond's nickname on the show.

The preview clip shows two moments with Clarkson that I rather enjoy. One, he's driving as he passes a road sign with several bullet dings in it. "They shoot their signs here. What are they going to do to us?" The second is Clarkson standing at an intersection saying "Right turn on red- America's only contribution to civilization."

This should be well worth the viewing. 6:00 PM Mountain Time tonight.

I'm wondering if "Big Stig" was really The Junk.

I watched the "Top Gear Goes Quickly Through Alabama" episode last night, and I think I've discovered the secret of the show's appeal. Clarkson, the Hamster and Captain Slow are the Marx brothers. Last night, I watched them shop for cars that cost fewer than $1,000 (which is not an easy thing to do), I watched them pull a truck from an alligator-infested river, I watched them forage for road kill, I watched them sabotage Captain Slow's air conditioning, I watched them deliberately provoke locals by painting messages on the sides of their cars intended to get them noticed (and not in a good way.)

They are the 21st century's version of the Marx brothers. Okay, I admit it. I laughed several times in that episode.

I did found it quite interesting that when searching for a car to buy, Jeremy Clarkson, who frequently villafies the Corvette, drops it from cranes, shoots at it from a helicopter and is routinely critical of the car while on his shores, goes first to attempt to purchase a brand new Corvette upon his arrival in Miami. Fickle git.

Oh have you missed Top Gear? I agree it´s fun sometimes but they are just to patriotic about their english cars. Apperently Rover beats all other nonbrittish cars!?
I find fifth gear better. Why? They like corvettes haha !!

If you don´t have had these shows before what have you/ had for type of good carshows?? And i´m not talking about pimping cars or building cars... i´m talking about programs that test different cars aso...

Patrick, surely you know that the easiest people to tease are Americans.

(NOTE: to the humour-challenged. That was a tease.)

You're just ticked off because you have to waste time writing extra "u"s and replacing "s"s with "c"s, and let's not forget the extra "i" you people add to aluminum.

Ahhhhhhhhh, someone with a well-developed sense of humour. In defence of the correct spelling, John, I'll just point out that the Queen's English is rarely seen or written on car forums (fora), but it's something akin to finding the Holy Grail of big blocks......the all-aluminium big block (ZL-1).

Sorry for the Patrick.

Well, I See you've now hijacked your own hijack!

How apropoS, or is it "apro-pouS"?

IntereSting that you refer to your Spelling as the "correct" Spelling. How very droll, my liege.

And no offenSe taken to your inferenCe that I am a "real good speller" here in the U.S., but I would be considered a dumb aCC 100 miles north.

Off to the gair-age for a few MolCons from the frigidaire...
