MIAMI TOWNSHIP -- US 50 was closed for three hours east of Milford in Clermont County Saturday afternoon to replace a downed utility pole struck by a motorist after hitting a deer.
A Corvette driven by Anthony Doyle, 40, broke the pole and then overturned in a ravine between the Park 50 Techne Center and Wolfpen Pleasant Hill Road, about 11:45 a.m., according to Miami Township Fire Chief Jim Whitworth.
Doyle, who fractured both legs, was flown to University Hospital.
The highway was reopened about 2:45 p.m., after Duke Energy crews replaced the pole and the car was pulled from the ditch 25 feet below the road level, fire officials said.
Witnesses said several deer crossed the road in front of Doyle’s car. One deer was killed by the collision, fire officials said.
