For those of you with a keen eye -how would we be able to tell apart a Z06 from the ZR1?

I suppose the high rise hood would be the most obvious and it appears that the front fender vents are going to be different.

Easy, the Z06 will have a Z06 badge on the front fender and the ZR1 will have a ZR1 badge on the front fender.
