Corvette Car Club Holds Charity Event

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Dedicated to raising money for local charities, the Corvettes of Bakersfield (http://corvettesofbakersfield.org/) car club will hold its 40th anniversary party to raise money and present $15,000 in checks to six local charities.

The Corvettes of Bakersfield, who donated to the Kern County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team, California Highway Patrol widows, and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, said that 2007 is their biggest charity year ever.

Club officials said this year they are paying special attention to veterans because of America’s current war effort.

The Veterans of Kern County will be receiving $5,000. Sheriff's Search and Rescue will be getting $1,500, as will the SPCA. The event will be held Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Kern River Golf Course picnic area.

The event is open for everyone. Call 1-661-835-5021 for details.
