Got these rivets... I remember taking them off the hinges (with a drill) but now I have new ones and I'm looking at them and wondering what it is I'm supposed to do with them. Silly, but pretty new at this.
The assembly instruction manual will show you where the screws go and where the pop rivets mount. If memory serves, the hinges screw to the doors which, in turn, screw through the compartment trim ring into the car. Trim ring is pop riveted to the underbody, but check this with the AIM.
Hmmmm. Yeah... I made note (always taking pics of the areas just in case) About where they go... My problem is how do I use the rivets? I put them in and cut them or hit them with a hammer? I should have been more clear about what I was asking... Sorry about that.

Just my op. I would not use the pop rivets. The originals were aluminun that have a 1/2 in head 3/16 th dia. And you peen them over with a punch and hammer. The reason is with the pop rivets you may have clearence issues when you close the doors. The mandrel sticks out and will prevent the door from closing.
Would you say that if I leave them off... the doors will still hold fine with just the screws then? I totally understand what your saying. The ones I got from corvette america are clearly smaller on the mandrel. But I want to be sure that there won't be any specific strain on any of the items if I don't use the rivets. Was this also the case for you with the rivets?
The doors and trim ring on my '68 did not have the large head rivets cited although the rivets are present in other places and applications. I used pop rivets and have not had any issues with trim ring or door fit or function.
