Default Mysterious Fuel Leak

Mysterious Fuel Leak
My 80 is leaking fuel in the vicinity of the passenger side exhaust. I'm going nuts because I can't seem to find the source of the leak.

What I've done so far: checked the fuel sending unit, dropped and checked the tank (couldn't save the build sheet ), checked the steel fuel lines on the rail on the passenger side, checked the rubber hoses coming off the steel fuel lines.

The tank and steel lines looked much better than expected - hardly any rust at all. I did notice that the clamps holding the rubber hoses were pretty rusty. I couldn't detect any cracks or breaks in the rubber hoses.

Any suggestions ????

if the fuel hoses are original, then i would replace them.

It could be something other than a leaky hose, but a hose is the most likely.

Does the 1980 have a mechanical fuel pump? When the delco fuel pumps go, they can start to leak fuel out the side of the pump. There is a small hole designed to leak fuel if something breaks (better than leaking into the oil pan).

Just a thought.
Good luck!

Not a whole lot up under there for a fuel leak. I'm guessing OEM clamps and rubber hoses. Replace all of them.

Mini -- Mechanical fuel pumps on the '80 models with the possible exception of the LG-4 cars.

Thanks for the sugggestions. I think I found the source of the problem. I replaced the hoses running between the steel fuel lines and the fuel sending unit. For now, the leaking has stopped.
