Rear Compartment Doors - Glued or Screwed?

Previous owner replaced rear compartment door frame and doors but did not attach the doors to the frame. Should the doors be glued or screwed to the frame? Was thinking that screws may make door removal easier if it was ever necessary. If glued, what type of glue would be best?

Not sure if they're like the 82, but there is are hinge pins that goes through the plastic hinge that holds the doors on mine.

The door frames are attached to the hinge, but the carpeted inserts are not attached to the frame for each of the doors. Thanks for the response, but this is a slightly different problem.

The carpet is glued to the doors.

The doors are screwed to the frame, and the frame is screwed to the rear deck area.

If I remember correctly the "Original" doors are a combination of glue and a snap type V that snaps the lid to the frame. Aftermarket replacements are particle board and have small screws for attachment of the lid to the frame.

You can use the old doors with a new frame, if you grind/file down the V on the lids and insert them into the new frame then use the small screws from the new lid/frame to attach the old lids to the new frame.

Doors mount to hinges. Hinges, in turn, mount through the compartment trim ring and into the body of the car. AIM shows the installation.

Carpet trim glues to the topsides of the doors.

I've got the AIM and the Chevy Shop Manual and love it....only problem I've got with the AIM is figuring out where info is in it sometimes. I need a giant index to the thing.

As for finding items in the AIM..

I used a big 3 ring binder and set up the sections 1 ~ 15 from Index page, with All the General Information right after the Index page.. sure helps

I'm probably talking to the choir, but each section 1 ~ 15 is indentified in the index e.g. 13 ~ Radiator & Grille, 8 ~ Fuel Tank & Exhaust ect.. Then each section is Page Numbered and Alpha Number by Section.

Sometimes I look through more than one tab to find exactly what I'm looking for but not that big of a deal

... I wish my book was only printed on one side instead of having to turn the book around and around while looking for something

It would be a thick book with only one side printed, but I could live with that

, I can live with it the way it is too

Yup. My doors were screwed!

Now, I have new doors and they are screwed together (plates and trim). There is a lonnnnng pin that comes through the doors and frame. FYI- it is a PITA to get it through the teennnny holes!
